These southern 4-ingredient baked ham sliders are the kind of cozy, no-fuss recipe that becomes a Sunday tradition before you even realize it. They’re inspired by those simple church potluck sandwiches we all grew up with—soft, buttery rolls, salty ham, and melty cheese baked together until they’re golden and irresistible. My husband truly does beg for these every Sunday after church, and I’ve learned to just accept that half the pan will disappear before I can even get the rest of dinner on the table. With only four ingredients and a glass casserole dish, they’re perfect for busy families who still want something special on the table.
Serve these sliders straight from the glass casserole dish while they’re still warm and the cheese is gooey. They pair nicely with a simple green salad, coleslaw, or a bowl of fresh fruit if you want to keep things light. For a heartier Sunday spread, add baked beans or roasted potatoes. They also work well as a game-day snack with chips and pickles on the side. If you’re feeding kids, set out some carrot sticks and ranch for dipping and let everyone grab a slider or two as they wander through the kitchen.
Southern 4-Ingredient Baked Ham Sliders
Servings: 12 sliders

Ingredients
1 (12-count) package soft Hawaiian-style slider rolls
3/4 pound thinly sliced deli ham
8 ounces sliced cheddar or American cheese
1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch glass casserole dish with a little of the melted butter, just enough to keep the sliders from sticking.
Without separating the individual rolls, carefully slice the entire block of slider rolls horizontally through the middle to create a big top half and bottom half. A long serrated bread knife works best for this.
Place the bottom half of the rolls, cut-side up, into the prepared glass casserole dish, fitting them snugly into the corners.
Layer the ham evenly over the bottom rolls, making sure every roll area is covered. If your ham slices are large, fold or tear them so you can spread them out. You want a good, generous layer so each slider has plenty of meat.
Lay the cheese slices evenly over the ham, overlapping slightly if needed so the whole surface is covered. This helps create that nice, melted cheese that drips down the sides as they bake.
Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese, lining them up with the bottom rolls to re-form the slider loaf.
Slowly pour the melted butter evenly over the tops of the rolls, making sure to cover the entire surface. Use a pastry brush or the back of a spoon to gently spread the butter so every roll gets coated and some butter runs down the sides.
Cover the glass dish loosely with aluminum foil, tenting it slightly so it doesn’t stick to the tops of the rolls.
Bake covered in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, until the cheese is starting to melt and the sliders are heated through.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 8–10 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and you can see melted cheese oozing slightly along the edges.
Let the sliders rest for about 5 minutes so they’re easier to cut and serve. Then use a sharp knife to cut along the lines of the rolls to separate into 12 sliders. Serve warm right from the glass dish.
Variations & Tips
For picky eaters, you can use mild cheeses like American or mozzarella instead of cheddar, or even do half and half so everyone gets what they like. If someone isn’t crazy about ham, this same method works well with thinly sliced turkey or roast beef. For a slightly sweeter bite, use honey ham; for something more savory, choose smoked ham. You can also sprinkle a little garlic powder or dried parsley over the buttered tops before baking if you don’t mind technically adding a fifth ingredient for extra flavor. If you want to stretch the recipe for a crowd, bake two pans side by side and rotate them halfway through baking so they brown evenly. Food safety tips: Keep the ham refrigerated until you’re ready to assemble the sliders, and don’t leave the finished sliders out at room temperature for more than 2 hours. If you’re prepping ahead, you can assemble the sliders up to 4 hours in advance, cover tightly, and refrigerate, then pour the melted butter on right before baking. Reheat leftovers thoroughly until steaming hot, and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
