These little stromboli bites are the kind of simple party food that disappears faster than you can set down the platter. They remind me of the sort of no-fuss, hearty snacks that showed up at summer gatherings, especially July cookouts when everybody wanted something warm, filling, and easy to pass around. With just four ingredients, this recipe turns store-bought dough, deli beef, cheese, and sauce into a comforting bite that feels just right for casual family get-togethers.

Serve these stromboli bites warm with extra pizza sauce or marinara on the side for dipping. They fit in beautifully next to potato salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, a crisp green salad, or a tray of fresh vegetables at a barbecue spread. If you want to make them part of supper instead of a snack, pair them with soup or a simple Caesar salad.

Ingredients

1 tube refrigerated pizza dough

1/2 pound deli roast beef, chopped or torn into small pieces
6 slices provolone cheese, cut into smaller pieces
1/2 cup pizza sauce, plus more for dipping if desired

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a glass casserole dish or baking dish. Unroll the pizza dough onto a clean surface and spread it into a rectangle.

2. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Scatter the roast beef over the sauce, then layer the provolone pieces on top.

3. Starting from the long side, roll the dough up tightly into a log. Slice the log into bite-size rounds, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick, and place them cut side up in the prepared dish.

4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden brown and the cheese is melted. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving with extra sauce if you like.

Variations & Tips

Add a little seasoning: If you want a touch more flavor and do not mind stepping beyond the four-ingredient spirit, a sprinkle of Italian seasoning or garlic powder over the sauce is mighty good.

Make them ahead: You can roll and slice the stromboli bites a few hours ahead, cover the dish, and refrigerate it until baking time. That makes party day a whole lot easier.

Try a different cheese: Mozzarella, Swiss, or a mild cheddar-provolone blend all work nicely if that is what you have in the refrigerator. Just be sure to use a good melting cheese.

Keep the cuts neat: A serrated knife makes slicing the rolled dough easier and helps keep the filling tucked in place. If a little cheese slips out, do not worry; those crispy edges are often the first bits folks reach for.
