These oven baked 3-ingredient corned beef and smoked cheddar crescent stars are the kind of easy little comfort-food recipe that feels extra special without much fuss. They’re perfect for busy weeknights, casual get-togethers, game day snacks, or a fun family appetizer tray, and they make good use of simple refrigerated dough paired with rich corned beef and melty smoked cheddar for a warm, savory bite.

Serve these crescent stars warm with a crisp green salad, a bowl of tomato soup, or a plate of crunchy pickles and mustard on the side. They also fit right in on an appetizer spread with fresh fruit, potato chips, or a simple vegetable tray, and for brunch they’re especially nice with scrambled eggs and roasted breakfast potatoes.

Ingredients

1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup shredded or chopped cooked corned beef
1 cup shredded smoked cheddar cheese

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a white ceramic casserole dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles. Place a small spoonful of corned beef and a pinch of smoked cheddar onto the wide end of each triangle.

3. Roll up each triangle, gently curving and pinching the dough as needed to help form a simple star-like shape or pointed pastry. Arrange them in the prepared white ceramic casserole dish with a little space between each one.

4. Bake for 11 to 14 minutes, or until the crescents are puffed and deeply golden brown and the cheese is melted.

5. Let them cool for 5 minutes before serving so the filling can settle a bit. Serve warm.

Variations & Tips

Make them smaller: For party trays, cut each dough triangle in half before filling and make bite-size stars or mini crescents. Just reduce the baking time slightly and keep an eye on them toward the end.

Add a dip on the side: Even though the recipe is just 3 ingredients, these are delicious with a little honey mustard or thousand island dressing for dipping if you want to dress them up for guests.

For picky eaters: If smoked cheddar feels a little strong for younger family members, swap it for mild cheddar or mozzarella for a softer, creamier flavor.

Keep the filling neat: Don’t overfill the dough or the cheese may bubble out too much while baking. A small spoonful of meat and a modest pinch of cheese in each pastry works best.

Use leftover corned beef: This is one of my favorite ways to use leftovers from a corned beef dinner. Just shred or chop the meat finely so it tucks neatly into the dough and warms through evenly.
