When I need a last-minute Halloween dessert that feels playful but takes almost no effort, this sweet-and-salty chip candy bark is one of my favorite pantry tricks. It turns plain ridged potato chips into a crunchy, festive treat with melted chocolate and Halloween candy, and it is exactly the kind of recipe that works on a busy weeknight when you want something fun without making a full batch of cookies.
This dessert is great on its own on a party tray, but I also like serving it with hot apple cider, coffee, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a simple fall dessert board. If you are putting together a Halloween spread, it fits right in alongside popcorn, pretzels, and little bowls of candy because it brings that perfect mix of salty, sweet, crunchy, and chocolatey.
4-Ingredient Oven Baked Halloween Potato Chip Dessert Bark
Servings: 8
Ingredients
8 ounces dry uncooked ridged potato chips
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 250°F and line a metal sheet pan with parchment paper if you want easier cleanup. Spread the ridged potato chips in an even layer across the pan, keeping most of them whole for the best crunch.
2. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the potato chips. Place the pan in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes, just until the chocolate looks soft and glossy but not fully runny.
3. Remove the pan from the oven and use the back of a spoon or a small offset spatula to gently spread the melted chocolate over the chips. It does not have to cover every chip perfectly; a rustic look works really well here.
4. Scatter the candy corn and Halloween sprinkles over the melted chocolate while it is still warm so everything sticks. Press very lightly if needed.
5. Let the pan cool at room temperature or chill it for 20 to 30 minutes until the chocolate is firm. Break or cut into rustic pieces and serve.
Variations & Tips
Peanut Butter Drizzle: Melt a few spoonfuls of peanut butter and drizzle it over the chocolate before adding the candy corn for an even richer sweet-and-salty version.
White Chocolate Version: Swap the semi-sweet chocolate chips for white chocolate chips if you want a sweeter look that makes the orange and black decorations pop even more on the finished bark.
Make-Ahead Tip: This bark keeps well in an airtight container for up to 3 days at cool room temperature, so it is a nice choice for prepping ahead before a Halloween movie night or classroom party.
Best Texture Tip: Ridged chips work better than thin chips because they hold their shape and give you that hearty crunch under the melted chocolate. Try not to overbake the chocolate; you only want it softened enough to spread.
