1 pound fresh okra, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
1 cup yellow cornmeal

Directions
1. Wash the okra, pat it thoroughly dry, trim the stems if needed, and slice it into 1/2-inch rounds.
2. Place the cornmeal in a shallow bowl or plate, then toss the sliced okra in the cornmeal until the pieces are evenly coated.
3. Pour about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil into a cast iron skillet and heat it over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers.
