This slow cooker 5-ingredient buffalo chicken dip is one of those easy party recipes that disappears fast and gets talked about long after the plates are cleared. Using canned chicken keeps it budget-friendly and wonderfully convenient, so you can stir everything together in just a few minutes and let the slow cooker do the work. It has that classic creamy, tangy, spicy buffalo flavor everyone loves, making it perfect for game days, potlucks, block parties, and casual family get-togethers.
Serve this dip warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, crackers, or toasted baguette slices. If you are putting out a full snack spread, it also pairs nicely with little sandwiches, a veggie tray, and something cool to drink since the creamy buffalo flavor has a bit of heat.
Slow Cooker 5-Ingredient Buffalo Chicken Dip
Servings: 8
Ingredients
2 cans (12.5 ounces each) chicken, drained
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup buffalo wing sauce
1 cup ranch dressing
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Directions
1. Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker. Add the drained canned chicken, softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, ranch dressing, and 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheddar cheese.
2. Stir everything together as well as you can. It may look a little lumpy at first, and that is perfectly fine.
3. Cover and cook on low for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring once or twice during cooking, until the dip is hot and smooth.
4. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese over the top, cover again, and let it melt for 10 to 15 minutes.
5. Serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or your favorite dippers.
Variations & Tips
For a spicier version: Add an extra tablespoon or two of buffalo wing sauce if your crowd likes more heat. You can also set out blue cheese dressing on the side for folks who enjoy that classic buffalo pairing.
For picky eaters: Use a little less buffalo sauce and mix in a bit more ranch to soften the spice. This is a nice way to make it more kid-friendly while still keeping that cozy buffalo flavor.
For a smoother dip: Let the cream cheese come fully to room temperature before starting, and give the dip a good stir halfway through cooking. That helps everything melt together more evenly.
For make-ahead ease: Combine all the ingredients in the slow cooker insert the night before, cover, and refrigerate. The next day, set the insert into the cooker and add a little extra time since the ingredients will be cold.
For serving at a party: Turn the slow cooker to warm once the dip is hot and melted, and stir it now and then so the edges do not overcook. I like to keep plenty of chips and crunchy veggies nearby so everyone can help themselves easily.
