Some recipes just belong at a game-day table, especially the kind you can throw together fast after work and still have everyone hovering around the pan before kickoff. This hot, melty party dip borrows the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak and turns them into something easy to bake, scoop, and share, which is probably why it has that “someone in the family always has to bring it” reputation.
Serve this with toasted baguette slices, pita chips, tortilla chips, or sturdy crackers that can handle a heavy scoop. If you want to round it out for a bigger spread, set it beside wings, a veggie tray, and cold drinks, or add a simple salad if you’re turning snack night into dinner.
4-Ingredient Philly Cheesesteak Dip
Servings: 8
Ingredients
1 lb shaved ribeye or sandwich steak
8 oz cream cheese, softened
8 slices provolone
1 green bell pepper, diced
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a small baking dish or foil-lined oven-safe serving platter.
2. Add the shaved ribeye and diced green bell pepper to a skillet over medium heat. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking up the beef and stirring occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and the pepper has softened.
3. Transfer the hot beef and pepper mixture to the prepared baking dish, then stir in the softened cream cheese until evenly combined.
4. Lay the provolone slices over the top in an even layer, covering the dip from edge to edge.
5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the dip is hot and bubbling. Serve right away with toasted baguette slices or sturdy chips.
Variations & Tips
Add onion: If you want an even more classic cheesesteak flavor, cook a small diced onion with the beef and peppers. It technically takes you past four ingredients, but it’s a great add-in if you have one to use up.
Make-ahead tip: Cook the beef and pepper mixture earlier in the day, then refrigerate it. When you’re ready to serve, mix in the softened cream cheese, top with provolone, and bake as directed.
Use the right dippers: This dip is rich and hearty, so thin crackers can snap fast. Toasted baguette slices, thick kettle chips, or sturdy pretzel chips hold up best.
Double-batch party version: For a larger crowd, double everything and bake it in a 9x13-inch dish. You may need a few extra minutes in the oven, but it disappears fast at watch parties.
