6-Ingredient Oven Baked Muffin Powder Dessert
Servings: 8
Ingredients
1 package dry chocolate chip muffin mix
1 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a medium oven-safe ceramic casserole dish.
2. Pour the dry chocolate chip muffin mix into the prepared casserole dish. Add the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract, then stir gently right in the dish until the batter is mostly smooth.
3. Sprinkle the extra chocolate chips over the top and fold a few in lightly so you have chocolate throughout the dessert.
4. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is puffed, lightly golden, and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
5. Let the dessert cool for 10 to 15 minutes before scooping and serving warm.
Variations & Tips
For extra richness: Swap the milk for half-and-half or use part milk and part heavy cream for a softer, more pudding-like center.
For picky eaters: Leave out the extra chocolate chips on top if your family prefers a smoother, more cake-like finish. You can also serve each portion with toppings on the side so everyone can customize their own bowl.
Flavor twist: Stir in 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or a spoonful of peanut butter for a cozy change that still keeps the recipe simple and pantry-friendly.
Baking tip: Start checking the dessert at the 30-minute mark since casserole dishes can vary. You want the middle set but still moist so it stays soft and comforting instead of dry.
Make it special: For company, dust the top lightly with powdered sugar after cooling a bit and serve with berries or ice cream to dress it up without any extra work.
