There are a few little party foods that seem to disappear the minute they hit the table, and these slow cooker cranberry cream cheese pinwheels are one of them. They have that wonderful sweet-tart cranberry flavor tucked into creamy cheese and wrapped in buttery crescent dough, which makes them feel just right for game day, holiday snacking, or a cozy gathering on a cold evening. Using canned crescent rolls keeps things simple, and the slow cooker comes in handy for a gentle bake-and-warm method that suits a busy kitchen.
Serve these pinwheels warm with a small bowl of extra cranberry sauce for dipping if you like. They fit in beautifully beside a relish tray, a pot of soup, holiday ham sliders, or a spread of cheese, crackers, and spiced nuts. For drinks, hot cider, coffee, or even a sparkling punch all make nice company for their rich, festive flavor.
Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Cranberry Cream Cheese Pinwheels
Servings: 8
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough, 8 ounces
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Directions
1. Line the bottom of a slow cooker with a sheet of parchment paper, allowing a little to come up the sides. In a small bowl, stir the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
2. Unroll the crescent dough and press the seams together to form one rectangle. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, then spoon the cranberry sauce over the top in a thin layer.
3. Starting from the long side, roll the dough up tightly into a log. Slice into 8 even pinwheels and arrange them in the prepared slow cooker, leaving a little space between them.
4. Cover and cook on high for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the dough is cooked through and the edges are lightly golden. If your slow cooker runs hot, check a little early.
5. Lift the pinwheels out with the parchment, let them cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then separate and serve warm.
Variations & Tips
Add chopped nuts: A spoonful of finely chopped pecans or walnuts sprinkled over the cranberry layer adds a nice little crunch and makes these feel even more holiday-ready.
Use flavored cream cheese: Plain cream cheese is lovely, but chive-free honey walnut or cinnamon cream cheese can give the filling a different character if you want a sweeter appetizer.
Keep the cranberry layer light: Too much cranberry sauce can make the rolls harder to slice neatly. A thin, even layer gives you those pretty swirls without too much spillover.
Chill before slicing if needed: If the dough softens too much while you work, pop the rolled log into the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes before cutting. That small pause often helps make cleaner pinwheels.
Serve the same day: These are at their very best warm and fresh, when the crescent dough is tender and the filling is creamy. If you must make them ahead, rewarm them gently before serving.
