These oven baked 3-ingredient roast beef and asiago crescent pinwheels are the kind of easy party snack that always seems to vanish first. They come together with just a few store-bought ingredients, which makes them especially handy for holidays, game days, and busy family get-togethers when you need something warm, savory, and dependable. The flaky crescent dough, rich roast beef, and nutty melted asiago make a simple combination that tastes like you spent much more time on it than you really did.
Serve these pinwheels warm on a platter with a little Dijon mustard, horseradish sauce, or au jus for dipping if you like. They also pair nicely with a holiday appetizer spread, a bowl of soup, a crisp green salad, or a tray of raw vegetables for a nice balance alongside the buttery pastry.
Oven Baked 3-Ingredient Roast Beef and Asiago Crescent Pinwheels
Servings: 8
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
6 ounces thinly sliced deli roast beef
1 cup shredded asiago cheese
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet or lightly grease a baking pan.
2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean work surface and press the perforations together to form one large rectangle.
3. Layer the roast beef evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the shredded asiago over the top.
4. Starting from one long side, roll the dough up tightly into a log, then slice into 1-inch pinwheels.
5. Place the pinwheels cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown and the cheese is melted.
7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
Variations & Tips
For picky eaters: If your family prefers milder flavors, swap the asiago for shredded mozzarella or provolone. You will still get that gooey, cheesy center with a softer flavor.
Make-ahead tip: You can assemble and slice the pinwheels a few hours ahead, then keep them chilled on the baking sheet until it is time to bake. This is especially helpful when oven space gets tight during holiday meals.
Add a little extra flavor: A very thin layer of Dijon mustard or prepared horseradish spread over the dough before adding the roast beef gives these a deli-style flavor. Just keep it light so the dough does not get soggy.
Keep the slices neat: If the dough feels too soft while slicing, chill the rolled log for 10 to 15 minutes first. That little pause makes cleaner pinwheels and helps the filling stay tucked inside.
