Some recipes stick around for a reason, and this one has that holiday-table magic that makes people hover near the kitchen waiting for dinner. It’s the kind of low-effort main dish that feels special enough for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or a big Sunday family meal, with a sweet-savory, old-fashioned flavor that nods to classic Pennsylvania Dutch entertaining and the kind of practical hosting recipes busy home cooks have always relied on.
Serve it with creamy mashed potatoes, buttery rolls, green beans, roasted carrots, or a simple baked macaroni and cheese to soak up the extra juices. If you’re putting together a holiday spread, it also pairs especially well with scalloped potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and a crisp salad to balance the sweetness.
Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham
Servings: 12 to 16
Ingredients
1 fully cooked bone-in spiral sliced ham (7 to 8 pounds)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 can (20 ounces) pineapple rings with juice
1/2 cup honey
Directions
1. Place the spiral ham cut-side down in a large slow cooker. If needed, trim a small piece from the bottom or gently press the ham in so the lid can fit.
2. Rub the brown sugar all over the top and between some of the slices, then drizzle the honey evenly over the ham.
3. Tuck the pineapple rings around and over the ham, then pour in all of the pineapple juice from the can.
4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours, basting with the juices once or twice if convenient, until the ham is hot throughout and the glaze is glossy.
5. Carefully transfer the ham to a serving platter or serve straight from the slow cooker, spooning the pineapple and glaze over the top before slicing portions all the way through for serving.
Variations & Tips
For easier slow cooker fitting: If your ham is a little too tall for the lid, trim a small section from the bottom or tent foil over the top before placing the lid on securely. A larger oval slow cooker works best for a spiral ham in this size range.
Make it extra glazed: For a thicker, stickier finish, spoon some of the hot juices from the slow cooker into a small saucepan after cooking and simmer for a few minutes on the stove until slightly reduced, then pour it back over the sliced ham.
Use leftovers well: Leftover ham is great in breakfast casseroles, sliders, fried rice, soups, or tucked into grilled cheese for an easy weekday lunch. Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container with some of the juices to keep the meat moist.
Keep it from drying out: Since the ham is already fully cooked, the goal is to gently heat it through rather than overcook it. If your slow cooker runs hot, check it on the earlier side so the slices stay tender.
